Shane Finan

Shane Finan assembles artworks from interactive contemporary technologies, found objects and traditional media. His work is based in rural environments and examines technologies in human and non-human entanglements. He always collaborates, most recently working with lichen, artists, epidemiologists, historians, salmon and fungi. As part of his practice, he organises and runs collaborative artistic research. He is one of four co-founders of the art collective and workspace ^ in Manorhamilton in September 2022 developing collaborative research around art, landscape and technology. Shane has been awarded Arts Council of Ireland Bursary Award (2023) and Agility Awards (2022, 2021, 2020), and has been funded by Culture Ireland (2018, 2021), Creative Europe (2020), Wicklow Arts Office (2023, 2022, 2021), Leitrim Arts Office (2021, 2022, 2023) and the Irish Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media: Decade of Centenaries (2022).
