Speaker
Uliana Bychenkova
Uliana Bychenkova is an interdisciplinary artist & designer, composer & performer, curator & researcher from Kyiv, Ukraine, currently based in Klagenfurt, Austria. Her practice unfolds at the intersection of sound, voice, typography and writing, and is grounded in feminist artistic research and intermedial thinking. With a background in noise performance, she studied with Ukrainian composer Katarina Gryvul, whose work places strong emphasis on timbre and form. In 2024, she graduated from SeaM (Studio for Electroacoustic Music, Bauhaus University Weimar, M.F.A.) with an electroacoustic score for the film-performance “Scales” (dir. Anna Scherbyna, e-flux Film Award ‘24). Alongside her work in sound and performance, Uliana is an active graphic designer working primarily with editorial and cultural projects. She approaches applied practices such as typography, design and composition as affective and political tools, exploring their subversive potential within feminist artistic research.
